Customer
wants to try modding and decided to go for Effective Audio ultimate
clock installation after discussion.
Below are his comments:
Hi
James,
As you know, I was very apprehensive about sending to you my CDP
(Copland 266) for the ultimate clock package.
Although you had assured me many, many times, that the
Copland's performance would improve, I still had my doubts.
The other reason is that I have spent the last 18 months buying quite
a few audio components (and selling the ones that I did not like) and
mixing and matching them. I
had felt that after all that trial and error, I had finally finally
got the balance just right. In
short, I was very happy with the sound that I got at that time.
When I got back my modded Copland from you, what a shock! The
modded Copland was much better than before.
First, the highs are much better without being too bright.
It enables one to connect emotionally to the music. The
mids became more transparent. The
singer's voice (I used Jennifer Warnes' "The well") seem
more "textured" and "involving". The
bass became even tighter than before.
It felt "rounded".
The imaging improved tremendously - each of the instruments were
easier to pinpoint in the space that they were in.
There seems to be more air surrounding each of the instruments.
Each of the instruments were more "separated" from
the other. The soundstage
was wider and deeper at the same time.
I could hear more details - things that I never noticed before. In
short, it felt as if several veils had been lifted to reveal the band
playing behind.
James,
is this what audio nirvana is? You
must tell me what I can do to get more improvements like this ....in
the meantime, I will sit back and enjoy the music.
Best
regards
