...on his Marantz DV9500 Clock
Installation
I use a "special DVD" to fine tune my TV colour and sound after the
Clock installation on my Marantz DV9500. After watching 2 shows with my kids, I
find that black become darker. There is also a Deeper 3D feel on the picture
and also better contrast.
Sound wise I tested the sound on -25db Woofer 30-40hz become stronger than before.
Tweeter can reach 1.5khz (before Mod only 1.4khz) now on my test disc.

.... on his CEC TL2 with EA ultimate Clock mod + power supply mod.
Congrats - on the dot on all counts. First reaction to listening was
"Wow". As you've stated, "music feels right". Smoother, less grain. And again, even more low level retrieval - more significant than
from the DAC mod. Lower frequency notes - more energy (can feel physically) and
very clearly defined. More clearly defined and wider soundstage.
Best of all - music connects, emotionally involving. Much thanks.

...who on his EA modded Pure Digital DAB
tuner
Hi James,
The bass has definitely tightened up. There is bass "air" now instead
of slight bass boominess prior to the mod. Layering of instruments/voices is
better and the background is darker. I think the highs are quite ok now
compared to the roll off prior to when I first got it back.
Cheers

...who on his EA modded sonic impact
T-amp
Hi James
Just concluded my experiment with the Mod T amp by James from Effective
Mod, the sound is much improved by at least 40%. Imaging and clarity is
not an issue anymore, bass has improved by about 20% but still lacking
that final punch! maybe with a more sensitive speaker, it shouldn't be a
problem(mine is 87db 6 ohms) .
Last night i linked the
speaker output to my Boston PV600 Sub and it just blew me away, bass was
tight and punchy. Played Dadawa sister drum, eagles Hotel California and
Kenny G Live album track 4 thru it. everything sounded fabulous! comparing
it with the unmod T-amp(i bought 2 from ian) it has more presence in the
Highs and Mids, background vocals and instruments sounded clearer without
straining to hear it

...who re-clocked his Entec Number
Cruncher DAC.
Hi James
It took me quite some time before I decided to take the plunge and gave
James the go ahead to modify my DAC. But now that the mods are done, and
after almost 2 weeks of listening, I am relieved and glad to report that
the results are worth it.
Treble notes are now firmer, more solid and distinct where previously they
were slightly reticent or bleached. There is more air and bloom in the
music. Bass has become more taut and melodic. Tunes in lower frequencies
can now be heard quite clearly, and although more prominent, bass lines
are not overly obtrusive.
Presentation appears to be more dynamic, and there is a better balance and
integration between the low, mid and high frequencies. There is also
better separation of images in the soundstage. I hear new details in
almost all my CDs played. The added resolution, improved transparency more
realistic instrument timbre and texture have created adventures in
discovery out of my listening sessions.
Dealing with James has been quite a pleasant experience. He's patient, not
pushy and very accommodating. After trying out his speaker Bybees, I
decided NOT to get them and he collected them back cheerfully. But more
importantly, he knows what to do with our expensive toys.
No regrets. Well, maybe one - should have got the mod done long ago.

...on his Fully modded Audio Space CD8 Tube CD player.
Hi James,
Last tonight I did a late night listening. The music is fantastic, very detail and relax sounding. The bass is excellent with deep and wide soundstage. Good job you have done to my cd player.

...on the Fully Modded Philips DVP9000sa
DVD/SACD player.
Dear James,
Was listening to the 9000s again yesterday. Basically, the observation as follows:
As I said before, the 9000s by itself is a great little player that is very comparable and even better in some ways than the famed 963sa. While it's highs are slightly less clear and transparent than the 963sa
(arguably, the 963sa may be slightly over cooked in this region), it is, ultimately smoother, musical and more balance player than it's predecessor. Another aspect of the 9000s that beats the 963sa is perhaps it bass which is more tuneful and more controlled and deeper compared to the
slightly "one note" performance of the 963sa. Even with that in mind, prior to the mod, though better than the 963sa, I was adjusting the speaker placement of my Piega P10 and REL Stentor and could not get it to sound absolutely right on ALL material. Some tracks will invariably sound thin while some track will exhibit a slight emphasis in the deep bass region but I attribute this to the speaker and room characteristics but more on this latter.
After I got the modded player, first thing I notice is that the player mid and high frequency performance has
definitely take a step up in terms of performance. While the stock player was no slouch in this department, the EAM version clearly
adds more purity to the notes. Vocal and string takes on greater clarity and sweetness. On the Hung Hong Ying recording by Hugo, her voice is clear and transparent and at the same time
velvety sweet, you can follow every breath and inflection of the voice while the background instruments literally "floats" in the virtual space around the speaker.
Another improvement I notice is the macro as well as micro dynamics. This is most
noticeable better on attacks of pianos, crescendo of an orchestra piece as well as the "quiet" between the notes. As I continue the burning process (about more 20 hours), I found that the bass starts to takes on a more controlled manner which allows me to put the speaker nearer to the rear wall without getting the slight boominess I
experienced earlier. After the slight tuning of speaker, the overall sound becomes warmer, sweeter but still has very nice bass control over a wide range of material.
So far, I think the EAM mod has made a significant improvement over the stock player without any drawbacks.
Overall, I think the player grown from a great player to a real giant killer! Bravo! Thanks again for the good work.
Best Regards
Victor Tan

...on his Pioneer DVP655a for his benchmark
DAC.
Hi James,
Had known about the clock mod for quite a while but did not think it would make that big of a difference.
But it does, It is just what has been said it would do (Bring out more details and much more musical sound.) . Really great stuff.
