Hi James,

I really like the sound now after the latest mod. After ten hours of running in:The high sounds so sweet with no hardness at all! Lovely when listening to violins and cellos.

The music is also much quieter now - wonderful when listening to classical at night. Wonderful separation of instruments and vocal within the acoustic space. The music sounds so balance and right, while the images are very stable.

There is also more body and details to the music. Previously, vocal was a bit lean but now it is beautifully fleshed out - you could hear the changes in the voice and instruments. On Tsaikossky's piano concerto, you could hear the hammer hitting the piano string clearly. Or the impact on the tambourine before the bells rings. Wonderful!

Bottom line, a highly musical player with plenty of details.

P.s: Oh yes, the video performance has also improved quite a lot. In LOTR 3, Return of the KIng, the colours were so vivid with great contrast. Superb!

This is really the player that started it all for me . As part of the design team (yes, this player is fully designed in Singapore !!), I have a lot of insights to this player’s performance and way to mod. This lead to the piggyback DAC (I pioneered this mod for this player.) and upsampling IC upgrade.

A little bit on this player’s spec. DVD/SACD/CD (with upsampling to 24bit 192khz!!). One of the best Progressive scan output with faroudja top DCDi IC
